是W.T.O.，不過並非世界貿易組織，而是世界廁所組織(World Toilet Organization)。創辦人沈瑞華（Jack Sim）是新加坡建築商。不准吃香口膠的新加坡予人清潔城市之印象，但其實十多年前仍有很多新加坡人喜歡隨處小便(尤其公屋電梯內)。他亦有感世界(尤其第三世界)廁所簡陋與不足，引致很多疫症與影響個人健康。1 於是沈瑞華便在1998年成立「新加坡洗手間協會」（Singapore Restrooms Association)，與政府合作推動「快快樂樂上廁運動」（Happy Toilet Programme），改變坡人的惡習。他對「廁學」的推動，引起不少的發展中國家的興趣，於是便在2001年起，每年11月19日，自己的生日那天舉行「世界廁所峯會（World Toilet Summit）。至今已是第9屆，後更已定為聯合國的「世界廁所日」〔World Toilet Day〕。

W.T.O. is not for World Trade Organization, but for World Toilet Organization. Mr. Jack Sim, the founder of alternative W.T.O., was a Singaporean builder. Although Singapore such a clean city (chewing gum is prohibited), certain Singaporean liked ‘pe-peing’ in the public elevator or public space during 90’s. Also, he found that poor condition of toilet affected the health of people especially in the third world, so that he found the Singapore.


Restrooms Association in 1998 and promote “Happy Toilet Programme” to get ride of this poor habit of Singaporean. In 2001, he found World Toilet Organization and set November, 19 his birthday of every year to hold the World Toilet Summit. And now, it also became the World Toilet Day.

為慶祝英國成功申辦2012年奧運，英國擬於倫敦市奧林匹克公園內，興建媲美巴黎艾菲爾鐵塔Eiffel Tower的Piffle Tower(英人冠以的花名)公共雕塑(public sculpture)。樓高400尺。斥資1千5百萬英鎊(約1億9千萬港元)，由富商Lakshmi Mittal贊助。)有關的評審團正從提交的五個方案中選出一個作品。圖為藝術家Paul Fryer提交名為Transmission的作品。是否非常貌似中華牌鉛筆上的華表柱標記呢？原來天安門前的華表柱已有500年歷史。是王者納諫或指路的古建築。國產中華牌好用，帝制古建築因何重現？

To celebrate the 2012 Olympics of Britain, a public sculpture named as Piffle Tower is prepared to build in the Olympics Park in London, to compete with the Eiffel Tower of Paris. It will be 400 feet high and a 15 millions pound building and sponsored by Lakshmi Mittal. The referees are choosing from the five proposals. This picture is one of the works, the “Transmission” by Paul Fryer. Does it look similar to the logo of the “Chung Hwa”pencils? In fact, the sculpture in front of Tian An Men was a 500 years building, an ancient sculpture of beacon.

徐冰在11月1 日何香凝美術館的座談會中講了個笑話。他所創的不中不西文字，開創藝術的同時，也引起不少爭議。一天，有人問他：「您把西方的英文混入中國書法，很多中國人會不高興的。」他回答：「那我把英文變成中國書法，西方人也不會高興吧！」我常記住徐冰的一句話，作為衡量藝術品的量尺：「最好的作品，就是不中不西，不三不四的作品。」There is a joke by Xu Bing in the symposium in He Xian Gning Art Museum. The special letters created by him give rise to several contentions. Someone asked, “Your Chinese calligraphy which mixed with western English, will displease Chinese.” And he answered, “And also, my English calligraphy which mixed with Chinese, will displease Western.” I do remember his answer as a measurement of art. The best work, the dubious work.

Yo！睇真D歷史！唐德剛老先生

國內倡導口述歷史的歷史學家唐德剛，因長年飽受腎病折磨，最後決定停止洗腎，於10月26日病逝。著作有《胡適口述自傳》、《張學良口述歷史》和具爭議性的《新中國三十年》等。上海復旦大學教授金光耀認為唐德剛最大的貢獻，是為一班名人留下口述歷史，成為有價值的史料。其實民間口述歷史同樣是地方有價值的文化歷史，重要的是如何紀錄。這邊的香港政府，在10月28日與香港七間大學合作，發起「香港口述歷史庫藏計劃」，為我城歷史留下點點記憶的綫索。

The famous historian Tong Duk Kon passed away by nephrosis in November 26. His contribution of those narrate history records of celebrities such as Hu Shih, Zhang Xueliang were very important. Besides, the folk narrate history was also an important cultural history. Therefore, Hong Kong government discovered its importance and decided to develop its cultural history.
